BanaBay taste sensation at Be:Fit

Anyone who thought ‘a banana is just a banana’ had to eat their words when they tasted BanaBay bananas for the first time at top London health & fitness event, Be:Fit.

Held over the last weekend in March the show attracted 12,000 visitors and hundreds of samples of BanaBay bananas were given away to test whether the Ecuadorian fruit got the thumbs up for its superior taste.

Both banana fans and doubters were won over by the firm texture and fresh creamy taste of the fruit.  Some commented they were ‘like bananas used to taste’ and even compared them to bananas eaten while travelling in South America.

This was no surprise to Anna Viralainen, Marketing Manager, BanaBay:  “We have been promoting them on their flavour – the result of the lush growing conditions in Ecuador, which produces a larger banana – up to 30cms long – and a fresh clean taste.”

BanaBay bananas were also highlighted for their nutritious content, being rich in Vitamins C and B6 and potassium – great for a slow release of energy, helping boost the immune system  and enhance the quality of  hair, skin and nails.

To demonstrate the health benefits of BanaBay bananas, enthusiastic visitors were invited to pedal their own smoothie on the BanaBay smoothie bike.

Using recipes developed by leading nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston of Foods for Life, bananas were mixed up with 3-Omega-6 Dairy Free Flax Milk from Good Karma Food Europe and Chlorella & Baobab powders from for a delicious energy giving draught.

Having covered several smoothie miles and armed with smoothie recipe leaflets, visitors were then pointed in the direction of Covent Garden and Borough Markets to pick up the taste sensation that is BanaBay.
